At Skipstone, we know there are good surprises and bad surprises. Finding money in your laundry is a good surprise. Having things not go as you expected in a new job is a bad surprise. To help you avoid bad surprises, we want you to know how things will work as we begin working together.

While there are many, many details involved with making your assignment successful for everyone, here are the basic steps:

  1. We have a thorough conversation (or several) where we really explore your career and personal goals to see how we can best help you meet them. During this step we will also answer all your questions about Skipstone and working as a travel therapist.
  2. We begin collecting your credentials and start the process of verifying licenses, references, etc. This process doesn’t have to happen all at once – we can usually start talking about assignments once we receive your application, skills checklist, positive references, and license.
  3. We start presenting assignment opportunities to you. This process will be informative for everyone, as you will begin to hear about specific locations, practice settings, compensation packages, schedules, and expectations. We’ll also learn more about you during this process as we help you compare opportunities and discover which factors are most important to you.
  4. After you express interest in a specific assignment, and only after you give us permission to present you to the client, we will forward your information to them. If the client is interested, we’ll schedule a telephone conversation between you to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone.
  5. After the phone interview, if you and the client both want to proceed, we’ll negotiate the final details of the compensation package, help arrange housing and travel, complete your credentials and background checking, and schedule you to start the assignment. Of course, this is subject to your successfully passing your drug screen, criminal background check, etc, which must be done prior to your start date.
  6. We will be available at any time before and during your assignment to help you with any questions or problems that may arise. And during your assignment, we’ll check in with you at least weekly to make sure everything is going OK.

Here’s the bottom line: We don’t want you to come work for us for just one assignment – we want you to find a home here and stay with us a while. By making the process as simple as possible, and always delivering on our promises, we hope to make that happen.
